Cases of financial sexual extortion, also commonly referred to as sextortion, are growing dramatically. This complex crime transcends borders and legal jurisdictions requires a coordinated, joined up response across governments, law enforcement, technology companies, parents and children, in order to combat it.

Jason Barry joined the Law Enforcement Outreach team at Facebook, now Meta in April 2014.  Jason serves as a Law Enforcement Outreach Manager for the Americas but engages globally on Meta’s child safety work. Jason was a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations prior to joining Facebook where he served in International Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City and as a Special Agent in San Francisco. Jason specialized in investigations that involved child exploitation and human trafficking.

Shelley Allwang serves as a Director within the Exploited Children Division at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Shelley leads the strategic vision and growth of the Child Victim Identification Program, oversees the review and analysis of CSAM material submitted to NCMEC by ESPs and law enforcement, and manages the collective technology needs for the department. With over 18 years of experience in the field of child protection, Shelley has presented at numerous conferences and trainings related to the sexual exploitation of children.
